We had a great full week of school this week. Our donors choose project was funded and that will give students the opportunity to learn with new stamps, ink, games, dramatic play toys, tools for the light table and also different board games and a bowling set. As we continue to work on rules and routines we have also learned how to use choice time which is a time in the day when students get to choose a center of their choice and it helps with language and socialization as well as team building. This week we used blocks, science, the light table, the sand table and even were able to make play dough.
Students also used the painting center with water color paints, and they worked in the writing center where some students were interested in making letters and cards.
This week in math we continued with our count arounds and also worked on graphing by the letters in our names to the months of our birthdays. Students have also been working on making sure they are able to do routines and continue to explore with tools we will use this year.
In writing we have begun our writing workshop process and we decorated our special writing folders so that we have a special place to keep all of our writing and also it helps us to remember if we are finished or we are not.
In reading we received book baggies so that we are able to still focus on routines but we also have the ability to use the library and shop for books to use during independent reading times. Students were given a choice to choose 3 books and then 3 star books were added.
In outdoor time students are really interested in games and this could turn into a possible game study but I will continue to listen in to conversations before we move on to projects to see if this will go anywhere or a different study will be possible.
It was a great week, in which we discussed rules and the key word of the week was kind. Last week was patient and the upcoming week will be responsibility. We also talked about feelings and how to solve problems with consequences coming up in the week ahead. Have a great week!
