What have we been doing?

We have been working on observing many different things in the classroom. We have been cooking a lot and focusing in on healthy foods that are good for us to eat. We have been creating food from different places, and with our imaginations we have been turning our dramatic play center into a restaurant with different foods. Students also took a trip to UNOS PIZZERIA and were able to look at what a real kitchen looks like and compare it to our kitchen in school.   They are still focusing in on real and pretend. I have also noticed in a lot of the centers, students have been beginning to write words and even are writing their own stories. I am so proud of them.
The following website will allow you to look at how to keep your child healthy and why it is important to eat healthy foods. http://www.ext.nodak.edu/food/kidsnutrition/

With nutririon students are beginning to look at how different foods help us, and at snack today we looked at what students brought for their snack, and found out that each of us did indeed bring a healthy snack to school. Another interesting thing is that chocolate milk, is no longer available as we found out it has a lot of corn starch that is not good for us to eat.

In math we are working on graphing and we are able to make bar graphs, and survey graphs.  A great thing to do at home is to have your child create their own survey and then ask other people what they like or dislike.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I will talk to you soon.
