Sorting and partner reading

In math students were introduced to a new unit. I started with letting them know that I had so many buttons and beads and that I wanted to organize them into groups. So I sent them off to see what they could do. They did a great job coming up with ideas as shape, shiny ones, small ones, and ones with holes. The following day we created a tree map to show all the different ways we could sort and then students tried it again, this time creating three different ways to sort.

In reading students worked on putting post its on pages they wanted to share with a partner and then read that part to their partner and asked questions.
